Question Nokia to enter computer laptop business

Is Nokia considering to enter the computer business by introducing a laptop? Well since Acer the world's number three PC manufactured entered the mobile phone market and Dell the second largest computer manufacturer is set to follow soon, everything is possible right?

According to Nokia's Chief Executive Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo, Finnish Nokia, the world largest mobile phone manufacturer is seriously flirting with that possibility.

"We are looking very actively also at this opportunity," Kallasvuo said, when asked whether Nokia plans to make laptops.

"We don't have to look even for five years from now to see that what we know as a cellphone and what we know as a PC are in many ways converging," Kallasvuo continued.

"Today we have hundreds of millions of people who are having their first Internet experience on the phone. This is a good indication," he said.

Who knows maybe a Nokia branded notebook is just around the corner!

Only time will tell if this possibility has any change of becoming reality, keep an eye here, we will keep you inform as the story develops.

Thanks Nikos Kartalis, for that wonderful info.

If this news is correct than we would be seeing a strong contender for Compaq, Dell, Acer, Lenovo, Toshiba etc.

When will the NOKIA's Laptop come in the market?

Hoping to see it soon..

This info is not official yet, however with the whole Symbian rebuilt with Symbian Foundation this looks like a logical step. Nokia executives stated many times that Symbian will enter many different markets, one of them is for sure the low-end phones, another one may be the netbook market. Plus is not only Nokia with Symbian as Google probably will do the same with Android.

If they are going to manufacture laptops, they should foxus on Ovi services integration, great out of the box integration with Nokia handsets, while at the same time still playing nicely with all handsets.
