Arrow Undersea cables from 1901 to 2008

You ever wondered how our world is connected together?
Sure we have satellites and wireless communications but our planet is well wired in order to be connected together and cover our huge communication needs.

Over the years underwater cables placed all over the world connecting different countries and continents. The first underwater cable was serving the needs of the telegraph and it was the first underwater cable project that successfully connected New York and London.

Now more advanced fiber-optic cables are digitally connecting the world, serving our needs for Telephones, Internet, TV and more.

Neowin did a great job and published two great pictures comparing the underwater cables from 1901(above) to 2008(bellow).

Click on the pictures to view the full-size images.
