Aren't there any stores there in Birmingham that do that? Or do you mean you want to do it on your own?

First give a call to T-Mobile and ask for an unlock code.
They should give it to you for free.
Tell us what happened.

There are many websites that offer codes to unlock the mobiles, just get it from anyone of them and look for the manuals and follow the instructions, you can get the whole process done in half an hour. the first time I did this took that same amount of time and from the next time onwards it was much faster.

I am trying to unlock my w800i and following the process giving to me by Vodafone, which is
< * * < (left * * left)
But nothing is happening in expecting an unlock menu.
Tried it after powering up the phone at the start phone/music only menu and also at the Insert SIM screen.
Any help really would be appreciated.

I have few steps which may help you to unlock the w800i.Recommended for users with a single phone looking for the fastest way to open it.
1) Unlock all 4 locks (including SIM lock)
2) Change main language of the phone
3) Debrand (unbrand) phone
4) Download ringtones (free)
5) Upgrade firmware
6) Repair white screen, blinking screen, configuration error
7) Convert models by flashing (e.g. W800i into Z800, K750 into W800)

It is now either mandatory or voluntary for the provider to unlock the SIM card of the customer. Still, some providers are reluctant on doing it even after a customer has fulfilled their service contract. A few others will unlock the SIM card of a customer only if he/she has an active account in good standing for at least 90 days.
